Appearance: Small and slight, Natasha is best known for her fiery red hair and green eyes. She's athletic in build and considered conventionally beautiful.

History: Natasha @ Marvel wikia

Previous Game History: N/A

Personality: Independent, strong-willed, intelligent and loyal, Natasha is the type of person who enjoys taking on roles. She's an actress and a liar, which make her a great spy, but more than that she enjoys pretending to be someone she isn't. As she says in Black Widow Strikes: "I know it sounds childish. But that's because it's profoundly true. Undercover work has been my favorite part of the job since I started out ... because I so love being other people." She takes on the roles required, whether they be perky legal assistant or broody model, business exec or newbie barmaid.

It's been that way for as long as she can remember. She started young, trained in Russia to be a super spy, to be a weapon. It's the only life she's ever really known, and she's comfortable with that. It hasn't been easy, though, and she's paid a price. When asked if she knows what it's like to be unmade, she can only answer "you know that I do." Her life has been twisted and turned upside down, but she doesn't run away from it, either. She takes the horrors of her past and uses them to her advantage.

She doesn't seem to show guilt for the things she's done, even though she acknowledges them. But she does try to atone. She tells Loki she has red in her ledger and she's trying to wipe it clean, to start again. It doesn't matter if it's even possible, because she has no problem taking on impossible odds. She faces down a Chitauri invasion with a couple pistols and her wits, standing her ground against a horde beside men with super strength, super suits and gods. Impossible odds are nothing she worries about.

But atonement, that's something worth striving for, and she's big on giving second chances. In Black Widow Strikes, the only grief she shows for what she does is when she has to take out the woman trying to usurp the Black Widow role. Fury says she was beyond saving, and Nat can only walk away and say that others would have said the same for her, too. Natasha was given a chance to fix her past; she's not naive enough to think everyone can and should deserve that chance, but she still tries when the opportunity presents itself.

Natasha is, at heart, a serious, no-nonsense person. It's part of what makes her the best at what she does, because she's efficient and ruthless when she needs to be. She won't kill, but she's adept at getting information, either through brute force or coercion, and both seem perfectly natural when she does them. She isn't about poisoning someone to get what she wants, as she does in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. so she can get close to Tony Stark, nor does she shy away from physical violence, either through hand-to-hand combat or slamming Hammer's face against a desk to make him talk.

She's also adept at emotional manipulation, giving just enough of herself to make the other person talk, as she does with Loki. She takes advantage of the perceived weaknesses others place upon her -- she's human, she's female, she's small, etc -- and twists what she wants out of them before walking away, seemingly unaffected by whatever they've thrown at her. She's capable of compartmentalizing.

For all her seriousness, she does joke around a little, and has her light-hearted moments. She tends to get along well with others, though she doesn't make personal connections often. Clint Barton and Phil Coulson are the closest she has to friends, and they have her unwavering trust and loyalty, neither of which come easy. She values actions over words, debts to allegiances, and she will do whatever it takes to protect those in her inner circle, as she demonstrates in Avengers when she faces down Loki to find out more about Barton. She doesn't care much for organizations or government entities, though. As she says, "Regimes fall all the time. I don't weep over them. I'm Russian."

Powers/Abilities:
Strengths
  • Highly-trained SHIELD agent/spy skilled in interrogation and infiltration

  • Fluent in Russian, Latin, Italian, French, German, English

  • Master martial artist and acrobat

  • Expert marksman and tactician

  • Talented hacker

  • Master seductress

Weaknesses
  • Despite skills, she's still only human and a small one at that. Takes damage easily

  • Defaults to working alone

Possessions: Two Glock pistols, Widow's Kiss taser (in wristbands), wire, spray, darts, small amount of poison, all with her combat suit

Arrival: On ship

Reason for Playing: I'd like to see how she handles being in an environment where she doesn't have extensive SHIELD backup, as well as her reactions to cross-canon characters.

[- Writing Samples -]

First person: Figuring out a new world

Third person: Discussions between spies.
